The International Organization for Migration (IOM) as the coordinator of the EMN in Slovakia has launched the registration for 8th EMN Educational Seminar on Migration: "Migration in a Multilateral World". It will take place online as a virtual studio from 24 to 26 August 2021.

On 23 June 2021, the Migration Office of the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) as members of the National Contact Point of the European Migration Network (EMN) in Slovakia in cooperation with the Representation of the European Commission in Slovakia organized an online discussion REFUGEES AMONG US – How does it work in Slovakia?. The event aimed at presenting the topic of refugees and granting of international protection in the Slovak Republic based on factual information and up-to-date statistical data.

The COVID-19 pandemic brought about unexpected developments in the areas of migration and international protection. In addition to persisting challenges, new ones arose, such the need of new digital solutions. The Annual Report on Migration and Asylum published by the European Migration Network (EMN) provides an overview of the key developments in the area of migration in the EU Member States and Norway in 2020.

The European Commission published the 34th edition of the EMN Bulletin which informs on the current developments, outputs and statistics in different areas of migration, integration and international protection at the level of the European Union and its Member States from January to March 2021. In 2020 COVID-19 pandemic significantly impacted also the area of migration. It was felt especially in terms of border closures, travel restrictions and introducing sanitary measures. Since July 2020, the EMN together with the OECD has been publishing a series of Informs mapping the impact of pandemic on different areas of migration. The Umbrella Inform published at the end of April 2021 finalized this series.
