Were you forced to flee the war in Ukraine and thanks to temporary protection you can work in the EU? Or do you know someone like that? The EU Talent Pool Pilot is a new pilot project of the European Commission, which makes it easier for people with temporary protection to find work in the Union. Last year, the European Commission, the European Labour Authority (ELA), the European Employment Services (EURES), EU Member States and the European Migration Network (EMN), which is coordinated in Slovakia by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), participated in its creation.

More than half of responding EMN Member Countries have strategies and policies in place to enhance the prospects of displaced persons in non-EU countries of first reception and transit. The objectives range from reducing the root causes of irregular migration and forced displacement to the promotion of dignity, self-reliance and human rights of forcibly displaced persons and host communities.

EMN Slovakia hosted a meeting of the European EMN Return Expert Group (REG) on 1 and 2 February 2023 in Bratislava, Slovakia. Representatives of European Union Member States, EU agencies and international organisations informed each other about the return and reintegration of migrants, and discussed activities planned in 2023.

Between 2017 and 2021, many EMN Member and Observer Countries experienced a high degree of volatility in the number of applicants for international protection, which in some countries led to tensions in the reception systems. This EMN inform gathers information that can help policymakers better organise their reception systems.

The new EMN inform investigates the legal transition that unaccompanied minors face as they age out of care systems envisaged to protect children and adolescents deprived of parental care.
