Migration Office of the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic and International Organization for Migration (IOM) as the members of the National Contact Point of the European Migration Network (EMN) for the Slovak Republic organized an EMN thematic meeting “Intercultural work of helping professions in asylum facilities and in integration of people from Ukraine”. The meeting took place on 12 and 13 October 2022 in Piešťany.
The meeting aimed at sharing experience on approaches and good practice with integration of people from Ukraine, which will serve to prepare a publication on intercultural work with this group of refugees. Apart from practical experience and good practices, challenges with the integration of people from Ukraine in Slovakia and the Czech Republic were also presented. A part of the progamme was dedicated to experience sharing with work and integration of people from Ukraine who are in the asylum facilities.
The EMN thematic meeting was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic, Migration Office of the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic, municipality of Brno, Ukrainian community in Slovakia, charity organization Ukraine–Slovakia SOS, civic organization Firemedical which provides health care in the accommodation facility in Gabčíkovo, Central Office of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the Slovak Republic, academia – Comenius University in Bratislava and National University of Taras Ševčenko in Kyiv, Slovak Humanitarian Council and IOM Slovakia.
