Is it possible to improve the care system for applicants for international protection and temporary protection holders with serious health conditions when they are accommodated in the reception facilities of the Slovak Republic? This question was at the centre of the December meeting of the European Migration Network (EMN) Slovakia in Bratislava, attended by representatives of public authorities, local governments, NGOs, research bodies and international organizations.

The European Migration Network (EMN) and the OECD have published a joint inform entitled “Responsibilities and access to rights for beneficiaries of temporary protection.” The document draws on national contributions from 26 EMN National Contact Points and input from the OECD. The inform provides an up-to-date picture of how participating countries apply temporary protection and ensure access to rights, mapping national policy and legal changes up to April 2025. 

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), as the coordinator of the European Migration Network (EMN) in Slovakia, delivered two educational EMN Destination Europe workshops last week for grammar school students in Levice and Bratislava. In Levice, 18 students took part in the activity, while 53 students joined the workshop at Gymnázium Jura Hronca in Bratislava. Through an interactive role-play simulation, students gained a practical insight into how migration policies are shaped and debated at the European, national and local level.

The European Migration Network (EMN) has published a new Summary titled “Access to education for migrant children.” Prepared on the basis of contributions from 25 EMN National Contact Points, it provides an overview of national-level measures supporting legally staying third-country national children aged 6–18 in primary and secondary education, covering the situation up to March 2025.

The European Migration Network (EMN), in cooperation with the Council of Europe and the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), has published a new inform titled “Language and literacy support measures for adult beneficiaries of international protection.” The publication provides a comparative overview of approaches across 24 EMN Member and Observer Countries, covering developments in this area up to January 2025.
