The October EMN Slovakia meeting brought together around 60 participants from Labour Offices, their Central Office, the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the Slovak Republic, and the IOM Migration Information Centre. Participants discussed current and planned legislation on the employment of third-country nationals, as well as the information systems used in their daily work. The meeting also included a learning component on migration, where participants took part in the interactive Destination Europe activity, working in groups to make decisions on migration and integration policies at the EU, national, and local levels.

As part of the United Nations Week marking the80th anniversary of the UN, the International Organization for Migration (UN migration agency), as the coordinator of the European Migration Network (EMN) in Slovakia, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, brought the Destination Europe activity to Gymnázium Andreja Kmeťa in Banská Štiavnica.

Building on the long-standing cooperation between the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Academy of the Police Force in Bratislava, migration lectures and interactive Destination Europe workshops were held in September and October for more than 140 students of the Academy. The activities were prepared and facilitated by representatives of IOM, which serves as the coordinator of the European Migration Network (EMN) in Slovakia.

European Migration Network (EMN) Slovakia, which supports policy-making in migration and integration since 2009, cordially invites you to their national conference Sustainable Labour Mobility in Action: Bilateral Pathways for a Prosperous Slovakia, which takes place in Bratislava on 11 November 2025 under the auspices of the State Secretary of the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the Slovak Republic, Mr. Marián Valentovič. Representatives from EU Member States as destination countries for labour migrants as well as representatives from home countries of labour migrants will discuss good practices in bilateral labour mobility governance. The conference will feature functioning examples of bilateral labour mobility cooperation, with particular attention to mechanisms for protection, monitoring, and coordination. The European Migration Network (EMN) has published a new inform titled “Distribution of international protection accommodation centres and relationship management with local communities.” The publication analyses how 23 EMN Member Countries and Serbia distribute accommodation centres and engage with local stakeholders. Covering developments up to February 2025, it presents national approaches to planning, communication, and community engagement, alongside good practices and challenges.
