IOM International Organization for Migration as the coordinator of the EMN National Contact Point in the Slovak Republic and the IOM Migration Information Centre organized an international conference entitled National Dialogue on Integration under the auspices of Ms. Lucia Nicholsonová, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the Slovak Republic.
It took place in Bratislava on 15 November with more than 130 participants from public service institutions including local self-administrations, international organizations, non-governmental organizations and migrant associations operating in the Slovak Republic.
The main aim of the conference was to provide a forum for mutual exchange of experiences and good practices among the selected EU Member States in the field of integration of foreigners. Good practice examples were presented by the experts from the Czech, Portuguese and Austrian state institutions as well as non-governmental organizations. Special focus was also placed on preparation of expert suggestions and recommendations in the area of integration. In this context, EMN activities and using their potential in creating policies at national and EU level were presented to the audience.
From the conference and panel discussion arose several recommendations that will be summarized and published by the IOM International Organization for Migration at the end of the year 2011. Consequently, the document will be distributed to public service institutions and other relevant stakeholders.
