International Organization for Migration (IOM) as the EMN coordinator for Slovakia has organised several small scale meetings on various topics with the representatives of Slovak state institutions.
On 6 April 2017, EMN small scale meeting was organised in Bratislava in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the SR and Central Office of Labour, Social Affairs and Family. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the SR and Central Office of Labour, Social Affairs and Family (COLSAF) and offices of labour, social affairs and family. The aim was the exchange of information and application of the relevant legal provisions and internal regulations in the field of employing third-country nationals, as well as the discussion on current issues from practice that are related to labour migration of third-country nationals.
On 4 May 2017, the EMN small scale meeting was organised in Bratislava in cooperation with the Migration Office of the Ministry of Interior of the SR entitled “Cultural differences and similarities”. Among participants of the meeting were, besides the Migration Office representatives, also representatives of non-governmental organisations, State Pedagogical Institute, UNHCR, IOM, as well as the foreigners themselves. The aim of the meeting within the framework of the prepared guidelines of the Migration Office about the life in the SR for asylum seekers, was the exchange of the information and experience regarding living in Slovakia as well as discussion about the socio-cultural specifics with persons who have already passed the asylum procedure.
On 24. – 25. May 2017, the EMN small scale meeting was organised in Liptovsky Mikulas in cooperation with the Bureau of Border and Alien Police of the Police Force Presidium (BBAP PFP) with the aim to exchange information mainly about the effects of relevant legislative changes which have occurred in 2017 in the area of legal and irregular migration of third country nationals. Moreover, the meeting provided space for discussion about current practical issues regarding residence, visa and cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the SR (MFEA SR), specifically with the diplomatic missions. The meeting was attended by the representatives of the BBAP PFP, MFEA SR, COLSAF and labour inspectorates.
