On 30 June 2015 a conference organised by the French EMN National Contact Point (NCP) was held in Paris on Unaccompanied Minors in France and the EU. The conference was attended by a representative of the Migration Office of the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic.
Apart from the French context, the conference presented models of reception, protection and care for unaccompanied minors in Belgium, Sweden and Great Britain as well as the UNICEF and UNHCR publication Safe and Sound: What States can do to respect the Best Interests of unaccompanied and separated children which includes guidance for the developed countries especially in Europe. Besides the main reasons for unaccompanied minors leaving their countries of origin and ensuring solutions for unaccompanied minors which would be durable and in their best interest, the conference also discussed problems which the minors face during their integration. At the end, the topic of protection and care for unaccompanied minors in France was discussed.
More information about the conference including the programme and presentations is available on the French EMN NCP website.
