EMN presented at the International Metropolis Conference, Milan, 3 – 7 November 2014

On November 3 - 7, 2014, the International Metropolis Conference entitled Migration - Energy for Planet, Feeding Cultures was held in Milan. The conference took place one year ahead of the Expo 2015 titled Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life, while introducing this event and emphasizing the significance of movements of people in the early years of this new millennium.

Amon topics of plenary sessions were the following: forced migration, irregular migration, migration management, migration and development as well as migration and media. The Head of the IOM Office in the Slovak Republic, Zuzana Vatráľová, gave speech with the EMN workshop named How to handle migration issues in the media: challenge that reaches every country and she focused on the presentation of the topic of migration in the Slovak media.

Metropolis is the largest annual gathering of experts in the field of migration and diversity. It brings together approximately 1,000 officials, academic researchers, and representatives of international and civil society organisations to discuss migration-related issues of global interest. In addition to a comprehensive study tour program, and just under 100 workshops, the plenary programme offers access to the insights, challenges, and prescriptions of some of the world's key experts.
