In May, representatives of the Migration Office of the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic, ministries and partner organizations took part in a two-day facilitator training focused on improving communication on migration, which also included the interactive role-play activity Destination Europe. The training was part of the preparation of a communication training package developed by IOM under the Technical Support Instrument project, supporting the preparation of the Action Plan for the National Strategy of the Slovak Republic on Asylum and Migration Management.
During the Destination Europe activity, participants discussed specific migration situations, worked in groups and looked for solutions to individual challenges. The activity created space for a factual discussion on migration, working with different perspectives and jointly reflecting on complex situations that may arise in the field of migration and asylum.

Destination Europe, brought by EMN Slovakia, is an interactive role-play activity in which participants take on the roles of different actors involved in migration-related decision-making. Through group work, they can experience how positions are formed, compromises are sought and decisions are made in situations where different needs, interests and perspectives meet.
The activity is designed not only for students and young people, but can also be used when working with groups of professionals. Thanks to its interactive format, it opens up discussion on migration in a practical and accessible way.

About Destination Europe
Destination Europe is an educational and training tool based on role-playing for groups of 4 to 6 participants. Over the course of 90 minutes, participants experience a comprehensive decision-making process on migration policies involving various stakeholders with sometimes conflicting interests.
The tool was developed by the European Migration Network (EMN) and is aimed at youth and adults aged 16 and older.
If you would like more information about this educational tool or are interested in organizing a similar workshop and/or lecture on migration topics, please contact EMN Slovakia at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
