The Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the Slovak Republic, as a member of the European Migration Network (EMN) Slovakia, welcomed representatives of public administration, the non-governmental sector and the private sector in Bratislava to a meeting of the Inter-Ministerial Commission for Labour Migration and the Integration of Foreigners (MEKOMIC). Discussions focused on the current state of labour mobility, the integration of foreign workers in Slovakia, and proposed activities in these areas.
MEKOMIC is an advisory body to the Minister of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the Slovak Republic and is expected to play a significant role in shaping Slovakia’s policies in the field of the integration of foreigners and labour mobility, including bilateral cooperation. The MEKOMIC meeting took place on 12 November 2025 in Bratislava with the support of EMN Slovakia, which is coordinated by IOM Slovakia and of which the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the Slovak Republic is also a member.
The MEKOMIC meeting followed EMN Slovakia’s national conference Sustainable Labour Mobility in Action: Bilateral Pathways for a Prosperous Slovakia, which took place on 11 November 2025 under the auspices of the State Secretary of the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the Slovak Republic, Mr Marián Valentovič. The conference presented functional examples and models of bilateral labour mobility cooperation between EU Member States and non-EU countries, which may serve as inspiration for further discussions and reflections in the context of the Slovak Republic.
