At the November meeting of EMN Slovakia, representatives of the Bureau of Border and Foreigners Police of the Police Force Presidium, regional directorates and departments of the Foreigners Police, the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic, the Social Insurance Agency, the Central Office of Labour, Social Affairs and Family, and IOM Slovakia discussed the practical implementation of legislation on residence for third-country nationals.
The aim of the meeting was to exchange information and experiences regarding the impacts of recent legislative changes in the area of legal and irregular migration from non-EU countries. Participants addressed practical challenges, particularly those related to residence procedures, the visa regime, coordination among Foreigners Police units, and inter-institutional cooperation. The programme also included a presentation of EMN outputs relevant to the participants’ work portfolios.
The thematic meeting of EMN Slovakia, titled “Legislative changes related to legal and irregular migration of third-country nationals and their impact on implementation practice”, was organised in Malatiny on 19–20 November 2025 by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), as the EMN Slovakia coordinator, together with the Bureau of Border and Foreigners Police of the Police Force Presidium, as a member of EMN Slovakia.
