The October EMN Slovakia meeting brought together around 60 participants from Labour Offices, their Central Office, the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Family of the Slovak Republic, and the IOM Migration Information Centre. Participants discussed current and planned legislation on the employment of third-country nationals, as well as the information systems used in their daily work. The meeting also included a learning component on migration, where participants took part in the interactive Destination Europe activity, working in groups to make decisions on migration and integration policies at the EU, national, and local levels.
The aim of the meeting was to exchange experiences and discuss the employment of third-country nationals in the context of the legislation in force from 1 September 2025. The event also introduced a new methodological guideline to ensure a unified approach between the Central Office and Labour Offices, along with planned updates to the information systems. IOM presented current and upcoming EMN activities in Slovakia, engaged participants in the Destination Europe workshop on migration and integration policymaking, and introduced the services of its Migration Information Centre for migrants and employers.
