This focussed study provides overview on legislation in the EU Member States and Norway related to intra-EU mobility of third country nationals, on barriers which influence migrants´ labour mobility within the EU as well as on related statistical data about this phenomenon.
Visa Policy as a Migration Channel (2011)
A study provides information on the impact of the EU Member State and Norwegian visa policy on the migration flows into the countries with a focus on national visas and their role in the regulation process of legal migration and combating irregular migration. It also provides a broad overview and analysis of relevant statistical data.
Temporary and Circular Migration (2010)
The study provides information on the policies, legislation and strategic documents as well as the upcoming or planned measures in the field of temporary and circular migration and analyses relevant statistical data available in the EU Member States.
Satisfying Labour Demand through Migration (2010)
The study analyses policies, strategies and visions for the future in the field of labour migration in individual EU Member States. It deals with the current legislation in force, plans for future legislative changes, the transposition of EU acquis, the practical implementation of legislation, current trends and future development in the field of labour migration to the Member States and the co-operation with third countries in the field of economic migration.
Family Reunification (2008)
The study describes development of family reunification policy since 2002 and informs how current policy is implemented, with specific emphasis, where applicable, to Directive 2003/86/EC. Experiences in some EU Member States’ implementation of EU legislation within the context of family reunification are also outlined. There is also an overview of the statistics on the size and composition of family reunification. The Slovak Republic did not contribute to this study.
Conditions of Entry and Residence of Third Country Highly-Skilled Workers in the EU (2007)
The study outlines national legislation for migration of third country highly-skilled workers in some EU Member States and contains a summary of the programmes available in different Member States for attracting such workers. The rights and obligations of third country highly-skilled workers are also described, including whether (and, if so, how) these workers differ from other labour migrants, what they must do to stay in the country, and what are employers´ responsibilities. This is followed by a description of Member State experience with third country highly-skilled workers, assessing the effectiveness and efficiency of current policies. The study also provides available data on highly-skilled workers as well as an overview of recent policy initiatives. The Slovak Republic did not contribute to this study.
Managed Migration and the Labour Market – the Health Sector (2006)
The study aimed to contribute to the development of appropriate policies on labour migration for the health sector, by presenting an overview of the current situation and needs in the participating EU Member States. The Slovak Republic did not contribute to this study.
Impact of Immigration on Europe’s Societies (2006)
The study examines the impact of immigration on the economies, the cultural contexts, and on the political structures of the selected European countries. The Slovak Republic did not contribute to this study.
OECD’s International Migration Outlook
International Migration Outlook is published by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) annually, covering the most recent developments regarding migration issues in OECD countries. Each edition elaborates selected topic on migration. The latest 2013 report provides an analysis of recent developments in migration movements and policies in OECD countries and two analytical chapters, covering the fiscal impact of immigration in OECD countries and the discrimination against immigrants. The executive summary of the 2013 report is available also in Slovak.
Annual Report on Migration and Asylum Policies 2016
The report informs about the most significant political and legislative developments, as well as public debates, in the fields of migration and asylum which occurred in the EU, its Member States and Norway during the year 2016, with the focus on third-country nationals rather than EU nationals. It also contains relevant statistical data. The report for the Slovak Republic describes national developments and put them in the context of the EU policies and legislation.
