This EMN Inform contains the main findings of the EMN synthesis report examining whether, and how, potential victims of trafficking in human beings are detected and identified in international protection and forced return procedures in the EU Member States and Norway. The report concerned both applicants for international protection and ‘failed’ applicants in forced return procedures who have received a (final) negative decision on their application(s) for protection or have abandoned the procedure.

This EMN Inform provides an overview of current aspects of return mainly in EU Schengen Member States and Norway including statistics. Information has been drawn from EMN sources: EMN Annual Policy Reports 2012, the EU’s 4th Annual Report on Immigration and Asylum 2012, EMN Country Factsheets 2012 and EMN Ad-Hoc Queries.

This EMN Inform presents the main findings of the EMN Focussed Study “Establishing Identity for International Protection: Challenges and Practices” undertaken by the EU Member States and Norway. It provides an overview of challenges and their solutions facing national authorities in their efforts to establish the identity of applicants for international protection and for the return of rejected applicants, often in the absence of valid documentation.

This EMN Inform complements the Commission's 3rd Annual Report on Immigration and Asylum. It provides a short overview of the main developments which took place in the EU in 2011 in response to the increasing migratory pressures, particularly in relation to six strategic priority areas of the EU Action on Migratory Pressure – A Strategic Response. The information on national developments is also based on the EMN National Annual Policy Reports 2011. 

This EMN Inform summarises the indications of the effect of the economic crisis as emerged from the EU migration statistics in 2009, based on the most relevant statistics available for the EMN analysis. The information was collected from the EMN Annual Report on Migration and International Protection Statistics 2009 Synthesis Report which was compiled from EMN National Statistics Reports for 2009 submitted by the EU Member States.

This EMN Inform presents a summary of the main findings of the analysis of migration and international protection statistics for the year 2009 based on the contributions from the EU Member States included in their national EMN Statistics Reports for 2009. The statistics were compiled in accordance with the Migratory Statistics Regulation 862/2007.

This EMN Inform presents a summary of the main findings of the analysis of migration and international protection statistics for the year 2008 based on the contributions from the EU Member States included in their national EMN Statistics Reports for 2008. The statistics were for the first time analysed on the basis of data gathered in accordance with the Migratory Statistics Regulation 862/2007.
