Migration Policy of the Slovak Republic: Perspective until the Year 2020
It is the basic document and starting point for the building of a policy of the Slovak Government in the field of migration. This medium-term strategy was adopted by the Government of the Slovak Republic on 31 August 2011.
Organisation of Asylum and Migration Policies (2016, 2014, 2012, 2010, 2008)
A study presents a brief overview of the organisation of political, legislative and institutional context of migration and asylum in the EU Member States and Norway. The first version of the study for the Slovak Republic covers the period from establishment of the independent Slovak Republic on 1 January 1993, through the end of 2008. Updated versions of the study for the Slovak Republic cover the following periods: from 1993 till April 2010, from 1993 till July 2012 and from 1993 till the end of July 2014.
Organisation of Reception Facilities for Asylum Seekers (2013)
This focussed study provides an outline of organisation of reception facilities in EU Member States and Norway and provides an overview of the types of facilities, categories of applicants, and competent institutions making decisions on the placement of applicants in particular types of facilities. The study also describes the good practices in the European countries and focuses on the efficiency of facilities from the point of view of costs and the number of received and evaluated applications for international protection.
Attracting Highly Qualified and Qualified Third-Country Nationals (2013)
This focussed study describes the political and legislative measures in the EU countries and Norway in the area of attracting highly qualified and qualified workers – third country nationals. It also deals with the issue of effectiveness of such measures and their evaluation. The challenges and barriers for this group of migrants in accessing the respective labour markets are also described.
Immigration of International Students (2012)
This study aims at describing the national system of education and relevant legislative measures with the focus on international students – third country nationals as well as the general practice in the EU Member States and Norway towards this group of international students. The study provides also information on international cooperation and impacts of the mobility of international students onto the above-mentioned European countries.
Visa Policy as a Migration Channel (2011)
A study provides information on the impact of the EU Member State and Norwegian visa policy on the migration flows into the countries with a focus on national visas and their role in the regulation process of legal migration and combating irregular migration. It also provides a broad overview and analysis of relevant statistical data.
Practical Measures for Reducing Irregular Migration (2011)
A study aims to describe practical measures in combating irregular migration in the EU Member States and Norway in the pre-entry phase as well as in the phases of entry and stay of third-country nationals. It provides information on bilateral and multilateral cooperation of these countries with other EU and third countries in this area and it summarizes the basic legislation and political documents, as well as the impact of legislation and measures undertaken at EU level.
Satisfying Labour Demand through Migration (2010)
The study analyses policies, strategies and visions for the future in the field of labour migration in individual EU Member States. It deals with the current legislation in force, plans for future legislative changes, the transposition of EU acquis, the practical implementation of legislation, current trends and future development in the field of labour migration to the Member States and the co-operation with third countries in the field of economic migration.
Conditions of Entry and Residence of Third Country Highly-Skilled Workers in the EU (2007)
The study outlines national legislation for migration of third country highly-skilled workers in some EU Member States and contains a summary of the programmes available in different Member States for attracting such workers. The rights and obligations of third country highly-skilled workers are also described, including whether (and, if so, how) these workers differ from other labour migrants, what they must do to stay in the country, and what are employers´ responsibilities. This is followed by a description of Member State experience with third country highly-skilled workers, assessing the effectiveness and efficiency of current policies. The study also provides available data on highly-skilled workers as well as an overview of recent policy initiatives. The Slovak Republic did not contribute to this study.
Managed Migration and the Labour Market – the Health Sector (2006)
The study aimed to contribute to the development of appropriate policies on labour migration for the health sector, by presenting an overview of the current situation and needs in the participating EU Member States. The Slovak Republic did not contribute to this study.
